About Kent

He is a former owner  of a business that employed over 25 people he understands why businesses come and leave the state of Iowa. He also understands that every decision he makes in business affects his employees and their families. He brings this same commitment to the Capitol as he makes decisions that affect all our lives.

Kent and his wife Shawnee have six children two boys and four girls. He is committed to helping Iowa families achieve their goals and dreams. He believes education is of high importance and this must be achieved at the local level with parents involvement. He values life and traditional marriage. As an avid hunter, he will work to keep and preserve our 2nd Amendment rights.

Kent has lived in Indianola since age 1 when his family moved there from Des Moines. His father and mother Al & Colleen Sorenson, retired from the Indianola Community School District.

Kent and his family are members of a local church. He is a long-time soccer coach and former volunteer firefighter.
